Unity Migration

Hey Friends!

Been a long time, I've been transitioning the project over to Unity!!!

So after so much great feedback regarding the demo, which was made in GameMaker Studio 2, I decided to transition to Unity.  It has definitely taken a long time, pardon lack of updates. Not only am I learning as I go with Unity, but also transitioning and replicating features has been both fun and challenging.  My goal is make a fun, simple experience and I feel Unity will have the most opportunity for platform expansion as well as community based support.

Anyhow, please see the attached quick video to see Boomer in Unity action. It is already a smoother experience, with better particles and audio.

See you soon and thanks for all the support!

Cheers,

North

That’s awesome! As a fellow GM user, what were some of the advantages you found switching over?

hey there!

Camera system is so much better and can automatically adjust itself for any resolution. This alone was great as Boomer had issues on ultra wide.

Particle system is awesome, works via a GUI and you get to see your adjustments live in game. In GM you had to do it in code and build the game every time you want to test it.

Better community support. Lots more tutorials and polished content. I hear GameMaker is now building a similar forum.

Platform support, it doesn’t cost more money to export to other platforms.

Anyway, these are just a few. I love GM, it’s really fun building in GM, but I wanted to give Unity a shot and it’s working out real well. I highly recommend it, especially considering it’s free.

Thanks for the support on Boomer!

Cheers!

awesome! Yep I’ve been considering switching for a number of reasons, appreciate all the feedback! The camera thing alone I think makes a huge difference
